Jean-Cole The Air Commerce Act of 1926

The legislative act that I have chosen is The Air Commerce Act of 1926. I chose this because of the impact that it had in aviation. The act established federal regulations regarding aircraft, airmen, navigational facilities and the establishment of air traffic regulations (Air, n.d.). Air (n.d.) states, aircraft were required to be inspected for airworthiness, and were required to have markings placed on the outside of the aircraft for identification. It is very important that air traffic regulations were established because it creates a safer means of flying. Aircraft requiring to be inspected for airworthiness is also critical because of all the many ways that aircraft can have issues or bring them. If they need to be inspected then the rate and chances that an issue appears will decrease.

The act also had new airports built, along with new regulations on altitude separation (Air, n.d.). Aircraft separation was made for a safe difference in altitude and if any issue was to appear then the other aircraft would be able to react and stay safely away. Air (n.d.) explains how after this act was passed, the government supplied money for common routes to become safer to fly in whether it was night or day. It is great that airways were made safer so that pilots can have a little pressure taken off because they know that their airway is safe.

When the Department of Commerce took over, they created hundreds of light beacons and the airway's facilities now included a great number of emergency landing fields and radio stations that provided the pilots with weather information. All of these additions made because of this act are amazing and helped out the aviation industry tremendously. There are plenty of other legislative acts that are incredible but The Air Commerce Act of 1926 should never be forgotten because of its results.
